About Us
Bontrol Systems is a second generation, family owned representation firm specializing in custom engineered OEM equipment, including servomotors, DC motors, stepper motors, gear motors, linear motors, positioning systems, sensors, solenoids, transformers and power supplies.
Founded in 1982 by Frank Bonneville, who put the BON in Bontrol, Bontrol Systems has enjoyed steady growth and continued success. Richard Cousin, a California native, Eagle Scout and graduate form CSUS, joined Bontrol Systems in 1995.
Bontrol Systems maintains a reputation of integrity and stability achieved through treating all people as partners with common goals. Richard's simple philosophy is a recipe for success.
"I recall my first large sale as a manufacturer's representative. It was the end of a 3 day show for one of our lines. The very last person to come by worked for a major test & measurement equipment manufacturer and mentioned they were having problems with an in-house component. This off handed comment resulted in transferring the company's production equipment, materials, knowledge base and quality procedures to my principal with over 1 million dollars in sales".
On another account, Bontrol Systems started out with one OEM component and ended up with the entire project turned keyed with an initial purchase order of 1 million dollars.
"With over 28 years of sales experience, I always try to understand when the customer is sold. This can occur within first few meetings. The secret is to work closely with your principals to make it happen. I remember making a cold call to a major OEM. On my second call I met with a key engineer, referring me to purchasing with the comment of 'good luck because it's like meeting the Pope'. To my surprise, I was able to meet with the purchasing manager and he recognized one my principals which gave me instant credibility. He was sold then but it took two more years of effort to get qualified, but I never gave up."
Bontrol Systems participates with its' principals in area trade shows and is a member of MANA.
